Are you looking for an alternative to AvantGo or Sunnysoft World Off-line to download webpages for offline viewing? If you are, you should probably take Newsland for a spin.

This freeware allows you to download webpages to your Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone for offline viewing in a simple and convenient way.

You will also need to sign up for an account at their official site in order to manage your channels.

The application supports Windows Mobile 2003 to Windows Mobile 5.0 for both Pocket PC and Smartphone Editions.

Newsland is the news provider for "smart" mobile devices - smartphones, PDAs, communicators.

So far I've only just started using it, but I have to say that my first impression is phenominal. Compared to AvantGo, the content isn't as mainstream (No major news networks like CNN, etc) however there is a very good selection of content to choose from. It doesn't appear to have the ability to download arbitrary web sites or RSS feeds either. Hopefully that will change. From a technology perspective Newsland blows AvantGo out of the water. With AvantGo, it takes me upwards of 10 minutes to syncronize two channels, it is horribly slow, and I run into stability problems galore. Newsland on the other hand is simple and responsive, and I just downloaded 22 (Yes, Twenty two) channels in just over a minute. It's too early to verify overall stability but so far I'm highly impressed. If Newsland can incorporate RSS feeds and user-defined web pages in addition to their existing content, then they will have an undisputable AvantGo killer on their lands.
