It helps you build a shopping database that remembers everything you've purchased before, so that you can find them in your "All" list (master list) and mark them as needed so they appear in your "Need" list.

When you go shopping, you check off items from your list as you put them in your cart, then after you pay for them you use the "Checkout" command to move the checked-off items back to the "All" list (items that aren't checked off yet stay in the "Need" list).

Even though HandyShopper is designed for shopping lists, you can use it for other kinds of lists, too.

Here are a few of the many features of HandyShopper:

• Create as many databases as you wish (shopping lists or other lists).
• Mark items in your database (list) as Needed, and once you finish shopping, the items are remembered so you can quickly reuse them later.
• You can keep track of how many of each item you need, what the price is, the aisle where the item is located, whether the item is taxable, and more.
• Tap an item and hold the stylus down for half a second to pop up a context menu with some common actions.
• A special one-handed mode lets you mark off items with one hand, without having to pull out the stylus.
• The Total command adds up the total amount for the items you have marked as Needed, and the total amount of the items you've put in your cart.
• Notes can be attached to items.
• Each database can be sorted by any of the fields (up to 3 fields at a time).
• Keep track of up to 100 stores per database, and which items are available at which stores.
• Stores that have needed items show up in bold in the Stores dropdown list.
• Organize items in up to 100 categories per database.
• The column widths in the list view can be resized by dragging the column header divider bars.
• Optionally keep track of prices and aisles for an item on a per-store basis.
• Copy an item to another database, including which stores the item is available at.

- When a database is upgraded to a new version, the old database is backed up first (in the same folder) as "OriginalName-bak.bak". To recover the backup copy, rename it to end with ".pdb" so it can be recognized as a database file.

- Deferred Items - Items can now be deferred for purchase later. Tap the checkbox to check off an item (i.e. when you've put it in your cart), or tap the checkbox and slide the stylus to the right to defer the item (i.e. you will purchase it later, not in this shopping trip). Deferred items are indicated by an arrow instead of a checkmark.
- Learn Your Shopping Order - HandyShopper can now (optionally) learn your shopping order and sort items accordingly. To use this, go to the Sort page of the Tools|Options dialog and check the "Learn your shopping order" box. - Item Subtotal - The Quick Item Info pane in the list view now has a context menu (tap+hold), where you can set it to show the Subtotal (quantity times price) instead of just the Price. You can also set it to include Tax in the Subtotal.

Fixes:
- Scanning for databases should be fast on all devices, now.
- Fixed tapping on an item when "Enable in-cell editing" is off (tapping on the item should open the Details dialog, and only tapping on the checkbox should check off the item).
- Fixed the "None" button in the date picker.
- On devices with unusual screen sizes, some things were drawn incorrectly on the screen. The toolbar button icons, Store dropdown button, and Category dropdown button should be drawn correctly on those devices now. There are still some issues with certain dialogs extending past the edge of the screen; hopefully that will be fixed in a future update.
- Fixed the Sort page in the Options dialog to initialize itself properly if the Need view is active and the database is set to sort the All and Need views differently.

Make my switch to the "dark side" worthwhile since HS for PalmOS is among my all-time favorite apps. Pretty good for an Alpha release. It is pretty stable as it is and has not caused any problems with my PPC/Phone. Currently, a lot of features found on the PalmOS version is still non-existent on this but its a good start and is pretty usable for rudimentary shopping. I'm personally looking forward to a full-functioning version in the near future.
