Everyone starts with $1000, and anyone who drops below $100 is out of the game. The objective is to be the last player standing (or sitting.)

MBroPoker uses old "Vegas" rules; so the house takes 10% of the pot up to $4. This guarantees that eventually it'll come down to two players, and finally one. If you are that one, you can make it to the Hall of Fame; the ten quickest people to be the last player remaining.

This isn't a bad start for a 1.0 version of a game, but there are a few things that need to be addressed. For starters, this game has a memory leak. The more I play, the less free memory my PDA has. Eventually, I start getting major slowdowns, messages from the OS telling me that I need to close applications, etc. The only way to really resolve everything is to do a reset on the PDA. Also, the AI could definitely use some more work. It would be nice to have the computer opponents occasionally bluff. They only seem to bet when they have something (pair or better). They also fold far too often when the player bluffs. In fact, on the five-card stud setting, all you have to do is constantly bet/raise the maximum amount (doubling the stakes each time you win), and you can win the entire game in 8 - 10 hands. When I did this, it also seemed to mess up the Hall of Fame high-scores page. Larger buttons for Call, Raise, and Fold wouldn't hurt either. This is a very addictive game, and with these problems fixed it would be great. I also would like to see a Texas Hold-em option added and/or a no-limit betting option.

For freeware, and given its size, this is a pretty engaging program. A great way to kill off a few minutes by playing several hands against a group of AI opponents. The graphics are as simple as they could possibly be and the AI is sometimes predictable (but then, so are some real poker players) but this is as good as any shareware game you might run across. The developer has opened a forum for feedback on this title. He is responsive and quick to try to help fix problems.
