Description:
S.C. Out is a logic/puzzle game for Pocket PCs with Windows Mobile operating system. It is a Pocket PC port of an old DOS game called S.C. Out.

The goal of the game is to destroy the alien head on each level with a portable bomb using your advanced spaceship, while going through deadly mazes, solving sweating puzzles and avioding enemy creatures.

It has been toroughly tested on a Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX 420, but it should run on any WM PPCs with at least a PXA255 200Mhz or equivalent ARM/XSCALE processor.

The original S.C. Out game was written by KALISTO, a French software company which does not exist anymore. The copyright status of the game is uncertain, but seems to be in a state which can be called "abandonware". This means this game has absolutely no support left, the company which created it "abandoned" the game or ceased to exist. Thus the PPC version is only the engine of the game rewritten from scratch, and can not be played by itself. It contains 3 test levels made in the original games editor so it can be tested. In order to play the original 101 levels of the game, You must have (or get) the original game and copy the LEVEL.DAT file from the original to the directory you installed the game on the PPC. The game can play any levels created with the original level editor. These APP_XXX.CIA file shoul be copied to the game directory as well.

To install the game simply extract the .zip file to a separate directory and start the scout.exe executable.

Update Description:
v1.0.0:
- Some bugs were found in level 80,86,99 and 101 in the original LEVEL.DAT file, making it impossible to pass. This version resolves these issues among with one serious fix of the proximity bomb with the green skull on it. See copyright.txt for details. This bugfix allows all levels from 1 to 101 to be passed. This is the final release. There won't be any more releases, the game is done as is.

v0.9.86:
- A serious bug was found in level 68 in the original LEVEL.DAT file, making it impossible to pass. This version resolves this issue among with other more or less serious fixes of some objects. See copyright.txt for details. This bugfix allows the bogus levels 60, 68 and 71 to be passed.

v0.9.84:
- On level 60 you can't pass through without this bugfix. Now the blowup keys open their gates if blown up by a bomb. There are some other minor bugfiges concerning the leaf wall bombs (like the stone bombs in the last release) and the one-way gates.

v0.9.83:
- On level 49 you can't pass through without this bugfix. Now the stone bombs when exploding create such substance which is passable until it solidifies into a new stone bomb.

v0.9.82:
- On level 48 you can't pass through without this bugfix. Now you win if you blow up the virus no matter if you blow yourself up with it or not. Also the player misalignment bug with the electric rails has been eliminated.

Barbudor, that is strange. I just downloaded the DOS game from Abandonia and tried it out, but it seems to be OK. On level 10 there are some great letters formed of walls, and on the lover part there is a huge "N" letter. In the lover part of it, there is a small yellow "key" thingie, which fits a keyhole next to a brain-like machine on the lover left part of the level. If you put the key in it and shoot the brain with a rocket, it will switch the brain doors thus you can get to the alien head! The bug with the other LEVEL.DAT file (the french one) was that it lacked that yellow key.

Great Game. But although I got the DOS game from Abandonia.com, I cannot get through Level 10 !!!!!

You soon get hooked as the various features of the game are understood. 101 levels give lasting gameplay. This is a quality rewrite but make sure you have the right game file otherwise you won't get past level 10 - frustrated me for a while! You need the english LEVEL.DAT not the French one.

This is an awesome recreation of the original PC game. I was easily able to find the original version of abandonware on abandonia.com and extract the original LEVEL.DAT file. The lockups/bugs reported in earlier versions appear to have been addressed in v1.0.0. If you're looking for a challenging, fun way to spend a few minutes, fire up this game and solve a puzzle or two. Excellent and addictive.

The game produces freezes only on SOME PDAS. On the hardware it was developed (FuSi Loox 420), it works as it supposed to, without one freeze in many hours of testing. This freeze bug is being investigated, but it takes some time mostly because I don't have the kind of PDA the game freezes on. Please check back often, I will release a fix in the near future! Thank you.

Freezes like hell. Im running 400 Mhz and cant believe it hangs so much. Perhaps this game needs higher memory. Mine jst 64m.

Works pretty well on my axim x30, but randomly freezes, requiring reset. I found the original game on abandonia.com, and was able to extract and load the level.dat file quite easily.
