Description:
BatteryTimePlus is a small Today Screen plugin which monitors battery's uptime since last charge and displays the current battery charge percentage on PPC's Today Screen. It also displays the current memory status.
There is no option or whatsoever. Just install and your battery and memory status will be monitored. When the PPC is connected to a charger, the uptime will be reset to zero. The uptime will start count whenever the charger is disconnected.
Memory status displays the current Storage Memory (memory available for installing programs) and Program Memory (memory available for launching programs). BatteryTimePlus only monitors internal memory. It doesn't monitor the status of external memory (CF or SD card).
If you don't want to monitor memory status, only want to monitor battery usage, you can try BatteryTime, another free plugin which is basically the same as BatteryTimePlus but doesn't display memory status.
Tap or tap&hold on BatteryTimePlus (on Today Screen) will display a popup menu which allows a user to choose from:
- Close Menu: Closes the popup menu. Or just tap anywhere else other than the popup menu will close it too.
- Reset uptime. Sets the current uptime value to zero.
- Today Plugins: This will open the Today Plugin setting control panel.
- Alarm Clock: Opens the Clock-Alarm setting control panel.
- Backlight Brightness: Opens the backlight brightness setting panel (probably only works on some iPaq PPCs).
- Infrared Connection: Opens Bean setting panel.
- Hardware Buttons: Opens the Program Buttons setting panel.
- Power Control: Opens the Power setting panel (not work on some PPCs).
- Running Programs: Show current running programs.
Because each Pocket PC has its own hardware control, Backlight Brighness and Power Control might not work on some PPCs. Based on my own testing, Backlight Brighness setting works on both iPaq 2210 and 4150. Power Control works on most PPCs but doesn't work on iPaq 2210 (don't know why).
It'll be very appreciated if you could try these menu items on your PPC and send me the feedback about these two items. Many thanks.
BatteryTimePlus should work on all PPCs with ARM (including XScale) CPUs, Pocket PC OS 2002 and up. It only takes 11KB memory.
Installation:
Just copy the BatteryTimePlus.cab file (in the downloaded zip file) to your PPC, and click on it with any file explorer to install. If it doesn't show up on your Today Screen, just do a soft reset, or use Start->Setting->Today and the "item" tab to set it up.
Upgrade:
Please disable BatteryTimePlus and do a soft reset. Then install the newer version following the above Installation instruction.
Uninstall:
Disable BatteryTimePlus in Today Plugins setting then uninstall with any uninstaller.
Update Description:
v1.3:
- PPC 2002 support added.
v1.2:
- Infrared connection menu item added.
v1.1:
- Power and backlight settings are compatible with more PPC models.

Nice and simple application that worked just as advised. Only problem is when I change from portrait layout to landscape (be it east or west orientation) the application doesn't actually extend to the end of the screen, leaving an ugly empty square. Hope to see this resolved! Everything else is simple and spot on. Thanks :)

Like the previous reviewer, I was hoping that this would be a really cool feature. But alas, after repeated attempts at installing and uninstalling, I never saw any change in the Today screen. I even tried installing to different directories, and the status bars did show that an installation was taking place, but even after resetting, no joy. Battery Time Plus did not show up as an option in Settings/Today/Items either.

Impressive, works as advertised.

Had no trouble installing it. I have only been using it for a day but it does the job. I had tried Battery Pack 2004 Pro and although the interface was nice, it seemed to be causing problems with some of my other app's in getting back to the Today screen. This one seems to be doing well so far...

Brilliant. It does what it says on the tin ;o) Although you do have to read the instructions and perform a soft reset to get it to display on the Today screen/desktop

I to followed Dave's extra steps and it worked great. Nice little program, much nicer than the last one I used. Steve.

Pretty good so far. I followed Dave's instructions to get it to work.

Seems to work as advertised. Installation took a couple of extra steps. After following the steps in the installation paragraph this is what I did: 1) On the Today->Settings->Items screen, I cleared the checkmark for BatteryTimePlus then tapped "OK". 2) Went back to Today->Settings->Items and checkmarked BatteryTimePlus and tapped "OK" which made it show up on my Today screen. 3) The text did not show up... just the numbers... until I undocked my Axim and then re-docked it... then everything showed up as expected.

The description makes it sound useful, but upon installing - the plugin never worked and never displayed on the today screen, no option available in the settings for it either. The files went into my iPaq but nothing came out, it just left some junk behind I had to manually delete.
